Everything about this stay was excellent - apart from the fact that there was no WI-Fi available, from when I arrived at around 19:40 until I departed at around 07:20 the next day. I really needed Wi-Fi as I had just returned from Istanbul and had used up my inclusive allowances, which were not due to begin again until the following day. The lack of WiFi caused me some problems, as I needed to contact two colleagues to brief them about the day ahead. The owner told me that the problem lay with my phone/laptop, as she could get the Wi-Fi on her phone. She showed me this on her phone to 'prove it was true.' The next morning the male owner was serving my breakfast and overheard me telling someone about the Wi-Fi issue. He then flashed a phone screen at me and said 'it was a BT issue with the Wi-Fi last night, it says so here'. To be honest I saw the screen for about 10 seconds, certainly not long enough to read it. And if there was an 'outage' in the area, why did his wife claim that she had Wi-Fi the previous evening? Either way, I feel that they were not entirely honest, which I would have appreciated. In all other aspects it was a lovely stay, and all the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.

Such a magical place to stay - the high four-poster bed made me feel like royalty and the hotel has so much history, with something different and quirky to see everywhere you look! The floors are uneven, giving you a real sense of the age of the place, and the decor is in keeping, with great attention to detail in the room, corridors and public rooms downstairs. Bottles of water by the side of the bed are a welcome touch, there are biscuits with the tea and coffee and complimentary toiletries. The little breakfast room is lined with bookshelves, filled with a fabulously eclectic mix of books, so you'll never be short of something to read. My cooked breakfast was hot, fresh and tasty, and all the staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. This was my second stay here, and I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

We were so happy with our stay at the Cross Keys. The staff were delightful and incredibly helpful, even coming up with a solution when we all realised that we’d be leaving too early for our breakfast on the first morning of our stay. We ate dinner in the pub on both evenings. The food was fabulous and they had Timothy Taylor Landlord on tap - a personal favourite. The room was extremely comfortable and a generous size. We were amused to have an extra ‘room’, complete with window into ours, for our coats! The town itself was charming and we enjoyed wandering around the church opposite the hotel, and walking around the local area. While our business trip is one we shan’t be repeating, we want to come back and base ourselves at the Cross Keys for a holiday while we explore the Fenlands.

I stayed at Cross Keys and honestly not sure what to expect when I got there. I was pleasantly suprised when I saw my room. Lovedddd it. One word QUAINT. The location was perfect. It was a beautiful place to stay. The details and loved the feel of my room, very homely. Top floor and beautiful scene from my window. The breakfast was very tasty considering I am not a breakfast person and asked for well done eggs after my plate of food was given to me The staff was very polite and happily replaced the egg. Sorry!!!!. I will happily stay there again. Well done to the owners and staff job well done.. On top of that I had an extra hour before check out. Lucky me!!!!.

We booked at last minute really because it was very reasonably priced so our expections weren't very high. But we were very pleasantly surprised. A very lively bar where people were clearly enjoying themselves. Very organised pleasant breakfast. But, the clincher was when my wife asked the owner about the property before we left and he said 'Do you hear that?" and it was people after breakfast chatting and making a bit of a nose in a function room "that's people enjoying themselves and that's what makes this all worthwhile". What more can you say.
